Description

Description

The main objective of this project is a retrofit of an existing facility to ensure the communiplex is safe to use and can be used year-round. The project involves repairing or replacing ageing components in the facility including replacing the existing flat roof, rafters and ceiling, the boiler system and its components. New flooring is necessary with markings to indicate social distancing. Restoring this building is in step with an asset management plan (completed in 2019), and provides an opportunity for the community to meet while ensuring the ability to maintain social distancing. Completing this project restores the useful life of the facility, which can then be used as an integral part of emergency planning, can serve as a muster point in the event of a crisis, and once the pandemic passes, can become a revenue source by providing rental spaces for larger events.
