Description

Vinacomin - Power Holding Corporation Limited, a private entity, was planning the development of the 150 MW Dong Nai 5 Hydropower Plant, Dong Nai river, Dak Sin commune, Dak R'Lap district, Dak Nong province and in Loc Bac commune, Bao Lam district, Lam Dong province. The project was expected to generate 604.430 GWh annually, to be supplied to the national grid via a new construction transmission line. the project was to consist of two Francis turbines of 77.32MW each and 2 Synchronous 3 phases generators of 75MW each. Lifespan was 30 years. Commissioning was expected for 2015. Construction was expected to last 4 years. Electricity price was estimated at VND 730 per kWh ($0.035 per kWh). The feasibility was finalized in September 2007 (140MW). The investment certifciate was issued in September 2007. In June 2009, the feasbility study for the 150MW variant was completed. The EIA was approved in June 2009. The first construction contract was signed in January 2011. Total investment was estimated at VND 3,365,406 million ($161.6 million). Financial closure date was unknown, the FC was estimated as December 2011, after 25% of construction had been completed according to 2015 commissioning date.
