Vineyard Wind is an 806-megawatt offshore wind farm project south of Martha's Vineyard. The project has faced delays and defects, including defective turbine blades manufactured by GE Vernova, which caused a six-month halt in construction and a large-scale environmental cleanup. An independent engineer determined that GE owes Vineyard Wind about $853 million due to delays and defects, leading to a payment dispute. A Suffolk Superior Court judge issued a preliminary injunction preventing GE Renewables from abandoning the project and requiring them to continue their work, citing the irreparable harm their departure would cause.
