The project contributes to achieving the development cooperation programme objective. The safety of particularly vulnerable population groups in selected disadvantaged areas is improved through the cooperation of public, civil society and neighbourhood-based organisations. The module objective is to contribute to improving the quality of life and security in the eastern part of Mamelodi East (target area), a district of the City of Tshwane (Pretoria), through better access to quality services for children, young people, women and families. This is to be achieved in particular through early childhood development measures, advice and care services for women and families, support services for young people in the area of the labour market and social skills, and corresponding infrastructure measures. In addition, the project aims to sustainably strengthen the networking of the various relevant departments within the city administration with local actors (NGOs and CBOs). The target group of the development cooperation project is the population in the eastern part of Mamelodi East. At the start of the project, the sphere of influence is to be limited to an area of around 50,000 inhabitants. The measures to improve the range of quality social services and public spaces and to strengthen self-help potential contribute to preventing violence in the family and to greater security in the public sector. The recipient of the project is the City of Tshwane (City Manager or Mayor). It is implementing the measures with the help of a cross-departmental Project Coordination Unit (PCU). The total cost of the project is EUR 10.78 million (EUR 5 million FC grant and EUR 5.78 million own contribution).
