Description
Description | The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has released draft guidelines for Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs) to support India's clean energy goals. VPPAs are long-term contracts between consumers and renewable energy generators, allowing consumers to meet renewable energy consumption targets without physically receiving the electricity. The guidelines clarify that VPPAs are non-tradable, treated as over-the-counter contracts, and regulated by CERC. They enable renewable energy generators to sell electricity in power markets while transferring Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to consumers for compliance with Renewable Energy Consumption Obligations (RCOs). |
