Information Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited [HPCL] has come up with Visakh Refinery Modernisation project with a ticket size of 26264 INR Crores. This project in Oil/Gas/LNG Storage sub-sector involves The current status of the project is - and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The objective of the project is to modernize and enhance the capacity of existing Visakh Refinery from present capacity of 8.33 MMTPA to 15 MMTPA at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The Project comprises of new 9 MMTPA grassroots refining facility, revamp of existing units to produce BS-VI grade MS and HSD and capacity expansion, augmentation of Utilities systems, integrated effluent treatment system, Offsite facilities, Captive Power Plant and other associated facilities. The project is expected to have multiple benefits and impact including supply of Bharat Stage-VI compliant motor fuels, enhancing energy security due to increased refining capacity, enhanced refinery complexity and conversion efficiency, generating direct and indirect employment during construction and post construction phases, positive impact on Indian industry including in Andhra Pradesh due to high local component in project cost, nurturing and encouraging local industry during project and post project phase.
