Visible Past is based on the assumption that through today's dissemination of historical events that marked the 20th century, it is possible to make the past visible, to understand its mistakes and similarities with the present, to understand current issues and to reflect on the importance of the values of tolerance and mutual respect, which are the basis of the European Union. Visible Past will explore the rise of authoritarian regimes and the fragile path towards democracy experienced in the different European countries involved in the project, focusing in particular on three historical moments that strongly marked the history of Mediterranean Europe: the fascist period in Italy, the colonels' regime in Greece and the dictatorial regime known as Estado Novo, established in Portugal by Salazar. The project will be inspired by these three anniversaries: the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal (25 April 2024), the fall of the colonels' regime in Greece (24 July 2024) and the 80th anniversary of the liberation from Nazi-fascism (25 April 1925). The project will be implemented in 4 European countries - Italy, Greece, Portugal and Austria - thanks to the involvement of 5 partners: Consorzio Brianteo Villa Greppi (IT), Sapere Aude (AT), ARTIFACTORY (EL), CONTEXTOS and UNIVERSIDADE DE COIMBRA (PT). Visible past is organised in 8 work packages that aim to reach different targets: Citizenship (target value: 1060 citizens): cultural and artistic proposal with a strong transnational and European accent, including the 1st edition of Visible Past European Festival; Historians, journalists and disseminators, also thanks to the organisation of a 3-days study visit to Portugal (target: 78 professionals and 120 university students of historical subjects); Teachers: design of an online training course and learning materials (120 teachers); Students (300) and Young Ambassadors (180): engaging in conferences, training and active volunteer programme.
