At Visual Walkabout, we aim to discover and elevate new talents, pave the way for the Second Romanian Cinema Wave with innovative directors, support high-quality Romanian series and embrace co-productions with international filmmakers we admire. Our overall goal is to establish ourselves as an innovative production company, with audiovisual works of different genres, which offer food for thought and transcend all geographical borders. With MEDIA support, we aim to develop two feature films that address current socio-political-cultural issues and foster cross-border cooperation, while being key pieces in our company puzzle and in line with our core objectives. In developing our two films, we will be joined by our coproducers and sales partners, who will help us hire experienced international staff to form strong, dedicated, inclusive, multicultural teams. We are confident that our efforts will support the emergence of high production value Romanian films and contribute to the maintenance of sustainable European markets in the long run. By the end of the development phase, we will deliver several outputs, including creative materials (project books and scripts), revised financing plans and budgets, notable progress on casting, research, and scouting, as well as comprehensive marketing and distribution strategies. We aim to have both projects ready for production by 2027. The support from MEDIA is crucial for meeting our development needs, solidifying our cross-national cooperation and ensuring we can be competitive and innovative in the European market. Additionally, we believe that this support carries significant symbolic value. The MEDIA stamp of approval will greatly enhance our projects’ credibility and distribution outreach to European audiences and beyond, via big and small screens.
