The VIC (Visually Inclusive Choirs) consortium comprises three partners each with the intention of promoting cooperation between cultural structures involved in the field of choir singing. The partners work with both sighted and blind/visually impaired choir singers from Albania, Greece and France. Exchange of experiences and technics of singing and conducting visually impaired choirs, exchanging choral programs and visiting each other, performing together and participating in choral festivals and events are at the heart of the project’s activities. The encounters between blind, visually impaired and sighted choir singers from the three partner countries shall provide ground for learning about each other’s' cultures and overcoming prejudices. Seminars will be held toreview key matters such as accessibility, independent mobility, working with Braille music system, identity, musical approach and media, notions of discrimination and social inclusion. In addition, the project will organise residencies of choir conductors experienced in working with blind choir singers. This will provide the basis for jointly constructing and delivering innovative projects for international audiences, cultivating new generations of skilled choir conductors and promoting new, attractive and inclusive choir performances. The project will bring together visually impaired and sighted choir singers from different cultural, social, economic and geographic origins and with varying visual capacities.
