The project involves a strategic partnership between Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Group through its terminal operating arm, Terminal Investment Limited (TiL). Under the agreement, TiL will acquire a 49% stake in Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited (AVPPL), the concessionaire for the Vizhinjam International Seaport in Kerala, for an investment of approximately USD 1.397 billion, based on a total enterprise valuation of USD 2.85 billion. The partnership aims to accelerate the development and expansion of Vizhinjam Port into a world-class transshipment hub by increasing cargo volumes, strengthening connectivity with key international trade routes, and enhancing supply chain efficiency. The project also supports the ongoing expansion of the port's container handling capacity from 1.6 million TEUs to 5.7 million TEUs by 2028, reinforcing India's position in global maritime trade while maintaining APSEZ's operational control of the port.
