Description
Description | Togo's vocational training system is currently inadequately able to meet the demand for skilled workers. One of the reasons for this is the significant shortage of qualified vocational teaching and training staff. The Togolese government has recognised this shortage and has prioritised the further development of vocational training in line with the quantitative and qualitative needs of the economy in its current development plan for the education sector (Plan Sectoriel de lEducation 2014-2025). The national reform agenda Feuille de Route Gouvernementale Togo 2025 gives the Institut National de Formation et de Perfectionnement Professionnels (INFPP) the mandate to fulfil the task of training and continuing education for teachers. The aim of the project is to establish high-quality and needs-oriented training and continuing education for vocational training teachers at the INFPP. This goal is to be achieved by expanding the infrastructure, modernising the equipment and developing the capacities of the INFPP teachers (master trainers). This creates the conditions for the demand-oriented improvement of the skills of vocational teaching and training staff in Togo. The use of qualified teaching staff at vocational training institutes in turn contributes to increasing the quality, needs and practical orientation of vocational training. This improves the skills and thus the employability of graduates and achieves positive income effects. Qualified specialists are made available to the labor market, which strengthens the productivity and competitiveness of companies. |
