The FC module Vocational Training / Sinde in Myanmar includes the rehabilitation, expansion and equipping of the Industrial Training Center (ITC) in Sinde with modern technical equipment and teaching/learning materials. It is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and GIZ. The project will improve vocational training in Myanmar in terms of quantity and quality (the aim of the FC measure). This will contribute to expanding the supply of skilled workers and thereby improving the development opportunities of the country as it opens up - particularly in the ASEAN context. The higher level of training of the graduates will improve their income opportunities, but at the same time companies will also benefit from the qualified workforce. The target group is male and female secondary school leavers (11th grade) nationwide, as well as teachers, specialists and management staff at the ITC Sinde. The funds from Financial Cooperation (FC) will be used to support the ITC Sinde, which is under the Ministry of Industry (MoI), by renewing the teaching equipment and materials for selected training occupations. GIZ supports the development of cooperation relationships with the private sector, the development of job-market-oriented training and further education offers and supports teaching, specialist and management staff in methodological-didactic and practical issues, as well as in school, personnel and financial management. At ITC Sinde, this is mainly done through the use of development workers. The total cost of the FC project is EUR 6.5 million. Around EUR 4.0 million of the FC contribution promised in the government negotiations (total commitment of EUR 6.0 million) covers the costs of equipment, materials and consulting services. The Ministry of Industry provides sufficient budget for the costs of building renovation and the construction of new workshops (estimated budget requirement EUR 2.5 million).
