The aim of the FC project is to create training and further education that is labor market-oriented and geared to the needs of a green and sustainable economy. This contributes to the DC program goal of improving the supply of qualified workers in line with demand. The target group includes secondary school leavers who are seeking advanced training with an ecological focus, as well as employees who are pursuing further and advanced training. The Competence Center for Green Vocational Training will thus be the first vocational school institution in Vietnam that focuses on training and further education in professions for a green, sustainable economy. As a regional hub, the project has substantial spillover effects in the CLMV region and has a demonstration character. The project includes the expansion of the existing campus of the Vocational College of Machinery and Irrigation (VCMI) in Dong Nai by constructing additional buildings, primarily training workshops, and equipping them with machines and, to a small extent, furniture. When building and purchasing the machines, particular attention should be paid to energy-efficient and resource-saving criteria. An implementation consultant is supporting the VCMI in implementing the project. The complementary TZ component, which is still to be examined, should include advice and capacity development for teaching and management staff to adapt/develop training and further education programs for a green economy, integration of content to strengthen environmental responsibility and energy and resource-efficient action in all existing training programs, and strengthening cooperation with the business community. The project is sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
