After the record summer of 2018, which brought extreme drought with drastic consequences for the environment and people, the topic of water scarcity has also become current in our latitudes. It has become apparent that water is only available to a limited extent and we cannot have endless quantities. It is time to develop strategies for future planning and adaptation of water consumption. Dried ponds and streams, rivers with extremely low water levels, river traffic had to be interrupted for weeks, these were new conditions that no one would have thought possible in our latitudes a few years ago. Climate change has moved to Central Europe. It is necessary to develop and implement strategies for groundwater protection and adaptation to climate change as soon as possible. This problem is also widely discussed in the Czech Republic, especially in professional circles. In Germany, measures for rainwater management have been implemented for 20 years. In the Czech Republic, initial strategies are being formulated and appropriate measures are implemented at the national and regional level. One of the actors is the Zelený poklad Foundation, which acts as a flexible donor at the local level and has been funding a funding programme for practical measures for the use of rainwater since 2016. In addition to its many other activities, the Lias-Grube environmental station is the training facility for a broad long-term initiative on groundwater protection in Lower Franconia. The target group of the project “Voda -Water 2020” is educators from kindergartens, schools and hoards, community representatives and employees of the public administration and self-government. We follow two lines here: firstly, people working in the education sector, secondly, we seek positive influence on decision-makers in the municipalities and regions in terms of effective households with water resources. Therefore, this project Voda-Water 2020 offers numerous activities for municipalities and self-government. From experience, we know that this target group is mainly suitable for short and intensive activities. Therefore, 3 excursions (each 1-3 days) and subsequent lectures are planned in the project (length: 0.5-1 day). 4 educational appointments are prepared for the educators, in the area of the Bavarian partner as well as a summer school in the assisted area. In the STEM project from a young age, hospitals for representatives of the Czech pre-school institutions and hoards in the Bavarian institutions have always been hospitated by a group of 3 to 6 educators. New in this project are exchange activities not only for Czech but also for Bavarian educators. The supervision of the project is chaired by a joint advisory board. The final conference is planned for all target groups.
