Voestalpine Green Hydrogen Pilot Expansion

Voestalpine has expanded its green hydrogen pilot project at its steel production facility in Linz, Austria. The expansion includes the installation of two new compressors supplied by Hiperbaric, capable of compressing hydrogen to 500 bar, a purification facility, and five storage tanks with a combined capacity of one tonne. The hydrogen produced by a six-megawatt proton exchange membrane electrolyser at the H2Future plant will be stored and used to replace fossil fuels in direct reduced iron manufacturing. The project is conducted in partnership with the Austrian energy company Verbund.
