Description
Description | VOLACT aims to strengthen the engagement of young people and organisations in accessible, high-quality volunteering experiences. The project will provide 51 young volunteers, including those with FO, with the opportunity to contribute through tailored, needs-based actions to the resilience of 92 communities affected by man-made and natural disasters across Asia, Africa, South America, Caucasus, and the MENA regions. This 24-month project is implemented by 2 SOs, WeWorld and ACH together with 12 HOs operating in 12 countries. WeWorld will involve 7 branch offices (Cambodia, Benin, Mozambique, Tanzania, Tunisia, Lebanon and Burundi) and 2 independent HOs (WeWorld Kenya Foundation and WeWorld-GVC Brasil). ACH will engage 3 branch offices (Colombia, Georgia, Philippines). All participating organisations are actively implementing ongoing humanitarian and development projects in the target countries. The volunteering activities will contribute to strengthening the resilience capacities of 92 vulnerable, disaster-affected communities by involving volunteers both individually and in teams. This will support the transition from emergency humanitarian response to long-term, sustainable development, improving the programmatic and complementary efforts of the HOs (SO3 & SO4). To achieve these goals, young volunteers will be trained, safely deployed, and supported through structured learning, skills development, and regular mentoring (SO2). SO/HO will enhance the quality of coordination, management, and monitoring of volunteers and volunteering activities in third countries, while ensuring high standards of safety and security (SO1). Activities will directly involve 159pp from the SO/HO, and ESC volunteers and will benefit around 20,000 people from local communities by enhancing their ability to respond to crises. Furthermore, communication and outreach efforts will raise awareness among approximately 300,000 EU citizens, strengthening their understanding of EU values and global engagement |
