Description | Volkswagen has replaced mechanical lawnmowers with a flock of 100 sheep beneath more than 31,000 solar panels powering its manufacturing plant in Poland. The photovoltaic farm is one of Europe's largest on-site solar installations, with an 18.3MW capacity, built and managed by Quanta Energy. The project combines renewable electricity generation, biodiversity protection, and scientific research in cooperation with Poznan University of Life Sciences. The sheep grazing project supports biodiversity, local agriculture, and scientific research, and the sheep graze at the site until autumn, supervised by experienced breeders, eliminating the need for mechanical mowing. |
