Description | Vostochny International Container Service (VICS) was a joint venture with US$ 6 million established capital by P&O PORTS AUSTRALIA LTD (25%), SEA-LAND SERVICES INC (25%), and the VOSTOCHNY PORT (50%). Sector Capital Investment Fund established by EBRD and IFC acquired equity stakes later. The VICS terminal area was 380,000 sqm, stacking capacity was 9.090 TEU; length was 680 m; depth was 10.5 m. VICS had two fully operational berths with four cranes. P&O also holded 10-year management contract. The operating modern container terminal had a berthing length of 303m and annual throughput was 70,000 TEUs. IN 1997, VICS handled 18,169 TEU of imports into Russia and 7,364 TEU of exports. The leases for the two berths were for 25 years. As of 2009, the international port operator DP World owned 25% of Vostochnaya Stevedoring Company LLC; Global Ports Investments Plc (part of the N-Trans Group) owned 75%. http://www.vladcomport.ru |
