Description

Description

Since 1990 VSE has been advocating for rights-based approach towards needs of all victims of all crimes in the EU and globally. VSE represent more than 77 victim support services in more than 35 countries in Europe and globally. The present action will enable VSE's operating activities in 2024 and ensure that the organisation can continue to engage with the European Commission, the Parliament and other EU and Member State stakeholders, to advance rights of victims of crime in Europe. In 2024, VSE will support the EU in their victims' legislative agenda and in particular the adoption of a revised Victims Rights Directive following the Commission's proposal for a Directive amending the Victims' Rights Directive. VSE will work closely with EU institutions, civil society and State authorities to advance victims' rights and services and ensure a strong text is adopted during negociations. VSE will also support the EU towards the achievement of the EU Victims' Rights Strategy. VSE will remain involved in the Victims' Rights Platform and committed to mainstreaming of victims' issues across a broad range of policy areas, including digital justice, training, education, artificial intelligence, as well as in the victim-specific and victim focused initiatives such as the fight against violence against women, child sexual abuse, and combating human trafficking. VSE will also continue working on expanding its membership and working with members and broader networks to increase their own capacity to advocate for victims, hence amplifying VSE own influence. In 2024 VSE will further increase its consultative engagement with victim support professionals and aim to tailor targeted tools to benefit a collective action towards better response to victims' needs. VSE will continue disseminating its work through a number of fora such as VSE annual conference and other events both online and offline.
