Vietnam Trading Engineering Construction JSC was planning the development of the 45 MW Bac Me Hydropower Plant, Yen Phong commune, Bac Me district, Ha Giang province. The project was expected to generate 188,491 MWh annually to be supplied to the national grid. The project was to consist of two turbines 25 MW each, and two generators 22.5MW each. Commissioning was expected for November 2014. The design was approved in June 2011. The EIA was completed in November 2011 was expected to be approved in February 2012. Construction was expected to start in Q2 of 2012, equipment supply contracts to be signed in Q4 of 2012 and commissioning for Q4 2012 as reported above. Expected project life was 40 years. "According to Decision 2014, the tariff for hydropower projects with installed capacity smaller than 30MW ranges from 2.7UScent/kWh to 5.2 UScent/kWh in dry season and from 2.5UScent/kWh to 5.0 UScent/kWh in wet season. The dry season is defined from 1st October to 30thJune next year, and the wet season from 1stJuly to 30thSeptember, Thus the average power tariff is 4US$cent/kWh equivalent with 824.8 VND/kWh at the time of making the board decision."
