Description | The Lionheart Project is a renewable lithium production facility in the Upper Rhine Valley, Germany, combining renewable energy generation with lithium extraction and processing to produce battery-quality lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LHM) for the European electric vehicle market. The project aims to produce 24,000 tons of LHM per year, enough for approximately 500,000 electric vehicles annually, along with 275 GWh of power and 560 GWh of heat. ABB has been appointed as the main electrical contractor for Phase One, responsible for the design, engineering, manufacture, testing, and delivery of electrical systems across multiple sites including the Lithium Extraction Plant in Landau and the Central Lithium Plant in Frankfurt’s Industriepark Höchst. |
