Description | The project comprises the development of 30-MWac Vungu Solar project in Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province. It has been sponsored by Energywise Equipment (Pvt) Ltd and Impala Power Company Ltd. In July 2024 InfraCo Africa, part of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) company, has signed an agreement with the sponsors, investing $1.5m in the project. The sponsors also have advanced negotiations with Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company around a bankable 25-year PPA. The solar power plant will produce 30MWac of electricity which is equivalent to carbon equivalent emission savings of c.75,000 tonnes per annum, providing clean electric power to households and industry.
