Walk Safe Pictou

"The Town of Pictou wishes to create a safe walking route between a residential area and a popular community general store. There is currently no sidewalk access from the residential areas to a popular convenience/grocery store located directly across from the intersection; crosswalks are inconveniently and unsafely positioned. The project includes: • a traffic study of the area • creation of engineering plans for the construction • realignment of the union street intersection • creation of sidewalks • a new crosswalk with RRFB lighting • creation of a green space with seating • Anticipated length of new asphalt would be 25 m (175 square metres) • Anticipated length of new sidewalk would be 22 m (33.5 square metres) • 520 square metres of new green space would be created"
