Wallachia eHub (WEH) 2.0 is the consolidated European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) for Romania’s South-Muntenia and Bucharest-Ilfov regions, designated by the Romanian Government on 16.12.2020 and by the European Commission through Grant Agreement Project No. 1010083410 on 28.09.2022. Its mission is to accelerate the digital and green transition of SMEs and public sector organisations. Building on the achievements and insights gained during its initial phase, WEH 2.0 adopts a client-centric and integrated service model focused on four core pillars: Test Before Invest, Skills and Training, Support to Access Finance, and Innovation Ecosystem & Networking. As a trusted one-stop shop, WEH 2.0 will deliver a seamless service journey including Digital Maturity Assessments (DMAs), technology scouting, AI-based experimentation, and tailored training programmes. The EDIH WEH will enhance collaboration with other EDIHs across Europe by leveraging shared infrastructures, joint investments, and digital platforms to foster cross-border innovation. Special emphasis will be placed on the practical deployment of AI solutions, digital supply chain transformation, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies such as GIS, blockchain, robotics, and Building Information Modelling (BIM). Strategically aligned with the objectives of the Digital Europe Programme, the EU Digital Decade targets, the European Green Deal, and regional Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3), WEH 2.0 will also build synergies with Horizon Europe, InvestEU, the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), and the Strategic Technologies for Europe Platform (STEP). By the end of the project, WEH 2.0 aims to support at least 84 beneficiaries and deliver a minimum of 150 Digital Maturity Assessments (DMAs) for them. Particular attention will be given to existing beneficiaries who continue to require support, with an estimated 25–30% of the overall budget dedicated to their further development.
