The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, also known as the Butterfly Bridge or wildlife bridge to nowhere, is a pedestrian bridge project over the 101 freeway in Agoura Hills, California. Initially estimated at $54 million and funded by private donors with some state funding, the cost has ballooned to $114 million, more than double the original estimate, and the project is still not finished. The project includes unique roles such as a fungi habitat designer, indigenous seed scouts, and a soil scientist to make the dirt feel more natural, aiming to help wildlife cross a 165-foot-wide bridge over the freeway.
