Description | The project involves the construction of the Walo Solar PV Plant and battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Bokhol, Senegal. The plant will have a capacity of 16MW whilst the BESS will have a capacity of 10MW. The sponsor is Africa REN. The total value of the project is $45.92m. The EAIF, FMO, Access to Energy Fund and PIDG Technical Assistance are supporting the project with investments totalling $33.35m. The off-taker of the project is Sengalese utility company Senelec, under a 20 year PPA. Financial closure was achieved in June 2023.
