Description

Description

Mercy Hospital & Medical Center, a Catholic-affiliated hospital, was purchased by a non-religious company, and had to be decommissioned quickly. Walsh spearheaded the decommissioning process to remove the artwork and religious artifacts from the Chapel and the building. The hospital had over 60 pieces of religious artwork and sculptures decorating its halls, as well as many artifacts and items from the Chapel. Walsh Logistics had to quickly identify the items, create a plan for how to remove each piece and then contact vendors and subcontractors with experience removing/installing certain kinds of art. Once the work started, the scope was constantly changing – as the team worked with each piece to remove it, they had to immediately adapt to changes in how to package it, where it was going and even in some cases how to carefully lift the heavy sculptures. The team went onsite to calculate the weights of items like the marble altar and a large wall sculpture so that they could contact the right crews to disassemble and remove them. Additionally, in some cases the team members personally packed and delivered items to the Catholic affiliates receiving them.
