Waltersville Commons Affordable Apartments

under construction

The former Waltersville School at 167 Steuben St. in Bridgeport, built around 1900 and vacant since 2009, will be renovated into 70 affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments. The project includes nine units designated for supportive housing for people with disabilities and others needing assistance. The building will be restored to its historic glory and will provide deed-restricted affordable rental units for households earning between 30% and 80% of the area’s median income. Amenities will include security features, a laundry room, an auditorium, a community room, and open space.
