Description | The City of Fairfield received approval from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to lower Walton Lake by 11.5 feet as part of a plan to replace the structurally unsafe golf cart bridge at the Walton Club. The original plan to replace the bridge with eight 42-inch culverts was changed to installing a single large box culvert at the base of an earthen causeway, allowing better wildlife passage. This change requires a new permit from the DNR, expected to be approved soon. The drawdown was planned to begin around late August or early September 2025. |
