Description
Description | As a contribution to the integration of the national electricity markets in the region of the West African Community of States ECOWAS, KfW, on behalf of the German government, is supporting the first phase of the Ivorian section of the cross-border high-voltage transmission line between Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire with a loan of 30 million euros. The project is a priority project of the WAPP. The aim of the Financial Cooperation (FC) measure is to help improve the security of the electricity supply for the population and to promote economic development in Côte d'Ivoire, while also contributing to the integration of West Africa's electricity markets. At the same time, the project is helping to increase the efficiency and modernize the electricity transmission networks in Côte d'Ivoire. The first part of the FC measure essentially envisages the construction of a 50-kilometer-long section of the 400 kV high-voltage line between the Akoupé-Zeudji and Bingerville switching stations, as well as its integration into the switchgear. Bingerville is the end point of the existing 225 kV transmission line between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. |
