Description | The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is developing a new processing facility in Washington County, Maryland. This facility will serve as a booking center for detainees, with a capacity of 1,500 beds and an expected average daily use of 500 beds. It will provide intake processing where detainees stay for 3-7 days before transfer to out-of-state detention centers. The facility will include onsite medical staff and ancillary services, and will be audited regularly for compliance with national detention standards. DHS has contracted KVG, LLC for renovation and engineering work, including assessment and potential upgrades to water and wastewater infrastructure. |
