Description
Description | President Donald Trump awarded a $6.9 million no-bid contract to paint Washington’s Reflecting Pool to a contractor that he said had previously worked on his swimming pools by invoking an exemption meant for urgent situations. The exemption allows federal agencies to bypass competitive bidding if delaying the contract could cause serious injury to the government. Trump wanted the reflecting pool painted immediately to have it ready for the nation’s 250th birthday celebration in July. The company hired does not appear to advertise itself as an expert in painting pools. |
