Description | Eastern Shipbuilding Group has obtained a Notice to Proceed from Washington State Ferries (WSF) for the construction of two hybrid-electric ferries, with an option for an additional vessel. The new vessels will be designed to hold 160 standard-sized passenger vehicles and 1,500 passengers, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies in shoreside charging and battery storage to cut diesel-generated emissions. Each ferry will be 409ft 6in long, with a beam of 83ft 2in, a hull depth of 24ft 6in, a draft of 16ft 6in, and expected speeds of 17kt when fully loaded. The ferries will be compatible with existing WSF dock facilities. |
