Description
Description | Washington State Ferries (WSF) has contracted ABB to supply and integrate hybrid-electric propulsion systems for two new 160-auto ferries as part of the System Electrification Program. The first two ships are scheduled for delivery from Eastern Shipbuilding Group in 2030 and 2031, with an option for a third ferry. The program aims to build up to 16 ships by 2040 to reduce emissions and operating costs. ABB's systems include power distribution, advanced energy management, marine automation, and the largest ship batteries ever installed in the US, enabling all-electric, emissions-free operations on short routes and in port. |
