Washington University is redeveloping the former Goodwill Industries complex at 4140 Forest Park Blvd. in the Cortex innovation district into Catalyst: Powered by Wash U, a biosciences startup hub. The project involves restoring the existing seven-story, 120,000-square-foot building and constructing a new 50,000-square-foot, four-story addition. The facility will include laboratories, offices, and meeting spaces. The anchor tenant, C2N Diagnostics, will occupy 82,451 square feet on the first three floors, with an expected move-in date in late 2026. Planned improvements include replacing industrial sash windows with thermally efficient ones, removing existing dock and loading facilities, restoring the building's brick and concrete frame, and replacing decorative masonry blocks on the facade.
