Description
Description | The aim of the FC program is the hygienic and ecologically safe collection and treatment of urban wastewater. The project is intended to promote resource- and environmentally friendly wastewater disposal in selected Peruvian medium-sized cities and thus environmental protection. The wastewater disposal and treatment measures contribute to improving the health of the population and protecting water resources. Wastewater treatment enables the treated wastewater to be used in a way that is safe for health, e.g. in irrigation agriculture. In view of the increasing scarcity of water supplies in the coastal and highland areas of Peru, which is largely caused by climate change, it counteracts conflicts over the use of scarce water resources and contributes to adaptation to climate change. The target group are the inhabitants of the selected provincial towns who are affected by poor or non-existent sewage disposal and the almost non-existent treatment of wastewater, the downstream residents of the receiving waters into which polluted wastewater is discharged and, in general, the population who use surface water, whose pollution will be reduced in the long term by the project. |
