Description
Description | The overarching development policy objectives of the project are the protection of surface and underground water resources, the improvement of the living conditions of the population in Peja (main objectives) and adaptation to climate change (secondary objective). The project objective is to improve the wastewater disposal situation in the urban area of Peja and wastewater treatment. An important element of the project concept is an incentive mechanism that links performance improvements by the project sponsor with FC measures. The implementation of the project is therefore dependent on the achievement of the agreed objectives. The investment measures in Peja essentially include the construction of a main collector to the sewage treatment plant site about 7 km away, another collector to connect the southern urban areas to the main collector and a sewage treatment plant for 60,000 population equivalents. To a small extent, measures are also planned in the urban sewage network, which are necessary to lead the wastewater to the sewage treatment plant and to remove rainwater from the sewage system. An accompanying measure is intended to improve the framework conditions in the sector and increase the performance of the project sponsor. The total cost of the project (excluding taxes and other charges) is estimated at EUR 25 million, of which EUR 1.6 million is for the building land and the acquisition of the necessary land use rights, and EUR 1.3 million for the accompanying measure. The costs are to be covered by a FZ grant of EUR 9 million (of which EUR 1 million is for the accompanying measure), funds from SECO (State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation) of EUR 7.6 million, contributions from the municipality of around EUR 4.6 million (partly in the form of land or land use rights), and financial contributions from the EU or the Republic of Kosovo of EUR 3.8 million. |
