Description
Description | The overarching development policy objectives of the project are to protect surface and underground water resources and to improve the living conditions of the population in Gjakova. The project objective is to improve the wastewater disposal situation and wastewater treatment in the project area. The investment measures in Gjakova include the construction and partial rehabilitation of the urban sewer network and the construction of a sewage treatment plant. In addition, machines and equipment for storing, treating and spreading sewage sludge are to be financed. An accompanying measure financed from SECO funds is intended to address the problem of the lack of expertise in the wastewater sector and in particular wastewater treatment and to increase the performance of the project sponsor. The total cost of the project (excluding taxes and other charges) is estimated at EUR 16.8 million. Of this, EUR 6 million will be financed through an FZ grant, EUR 7.6 million through a grant from our cooperation partner SECO (State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation) and EUR 3.2 million through a contribution from the municipality of Gjakova. The municipality's contribution includes the provision of the land for the sewage treatment plant, the value of which is currently estimated at around EUR 0.6 million, as well as a financial contribution for the remaining amount. The accompanying measures will be financed in full from the SECO budget. |
