Description
Description | The aim of the FC module is to improve the wastewater disposal situation in the municipalities of Prizren and Gjakova Peja and thus ensure adequate sanitation. With this project, FC is contributing to improving the living conditions of the population at the project sites and to protecting surface and underground water resources. A secondary objective is adaptation to climate change. The planned project is closely linked to the previous phases I to IV, in which - in addition to measures in the urban sewage networks - a sewage treatment plant will be built at each of the three locations. Phases I to IV also provide for extensive measures to institutionally and financially strengthen the Regional Water Companies (RWC) and to improve the framework conditions in the sector. The Ministry for Economic Development (MED) and the Regional Water Companies (RWC) in Peja, Gjakova and Prizren are the project sponsors of Phase V. The measures of Phase V include the documentation of the sewage and rainwater networks in geographic information systems (GIS), flushing and the examination of the main lines of the sewage networks using camera inspections, the identification and classification of damage, hydraulic recalculation and, based on this, the repair, rehabilitation and partial reconstruction of the sewage networks. In addition, consulting services are planned to support the project sponsor and the three RWCs in the implementation. An FZ grant of EUR 8 million is to be made available to finance the project. The RWCs will undertake the GIS documentation of the sewage and rainwater networks themselves. |
