The aim of Phase VI (follow-up phase of Phase V) is to improve the wastewater disposal situation in the municipalities of Prizren, Gjakova and Peja and thus ensure adequate urban hygiene. With these projects, the FC is contributing to improving the living conditions of the population at the project sites and to protecting surface and underground water resources. A secondary objective is adaptation to climate change. In Phase V, based on a comprehensive investigation of the wastewater and rainwater networks, damage and structural problems are identified and priority repair, rehabilitation and new construction measures in the wastewater networks are defined. This basic work provides the basis for the investment in Phases V and VI, which essentially involve repair, rehabilitation and new construction measures for the wastewater networks. The project sponsors for both phases are identical. An FC grant of EUR 9.5 million is to be made available to finance Phase VI.
