Description

Description

The wastewater treatment plant will be installing a 65 kilowatt gas microturbine cogeneration plant. The cogeneration system will provide three benefits: it will generate electricity for internal use (reducing demand on the external supply system); it will utilize the waste digester gas, a by-product of the digester process, reducing gas and odour emissions on site and; heat created from electricity generation will be used to supplement heating the entire facility. An Odour Control system will also be constructed, consisting of two components. One system will capture air from the primary clarifiers, and through an Odorous Air Collection System, will connect to the existing aeration blowers, providing air to the aeration system. A second system will collect the vented air from the secondary (Aerobic) digester, which can be very odorous, and send it through a Biofiltration System. Both of these components will reduce odours from the site through the collection of odourous gas and provide efficiencies in the treatment operations .
