The project will construct a headworks building and increase the lagoons within the wastewater treatment system to increase the level of treatment and capacity and ensure that biochemical oxigen demand (BOD) and total suspended solides (TSS) levels are in year round compliance of the Districts operating permit. The District has an influx of people through the area during the summer tourist season which has resulted in the levels being exceeded during the times of heavy usage. The project will expand the wastewater treatment plants lagoon system by converting a previously abandoned lagoon to a become an aerated lagoon and will also construct a sludge laydown area. The project works will include: - Construction of a headworks screening building including: - Installation of a headworks screening system; - Installation of a washer/compactor; - Installation of a flow meter and chamber; - Installation of ventilation and odor control; - Installation of all electrical, plumbing, connections and appurtenances related to the construction of the headworks screening building; - Construction of a geotube laydown area including fencing; - Conversion of an abandoned facultative lagoon to an aerated lagoon; - Installation of cell inlet and outlet chambers, bypass piping, lagoon liner; - Installation of a sludge drying sand bed; - Installation of underlaid perforated drainpipe system; and - All related civil, mechanical, and electrical appurtenances.
