Description

Description

As part of Phase 2, measures from Phase 1 (project no. 29687, BMZ no. 201197672) will be continued and supplemented as needed. The aim of the project is to set up an integrated water resources management information system (IWRMIS) for Zambia, taking climate change into account, which will record, analyze and provide hydrological, hydrogeological and meteorological data. To this end, existing hydrological and meteorological stations will be rehabilitated, new ones built and wells drilled to measure groundwater. Transmission systems for the data obtained at the measuring stations and a central data processing IT system will be set up as a core element of the IWRMIS. The IWRMIS will enable the Zambian state to better meet its responsibility for sustainable water resources management and to mitigate possible consequences of climate impacts on water-relevant sectors and particularly vulnerable population groups through improved climate adaptation capacities. The project is being carried out in close cooperation with Technical Cooperation.
