Description

Description

The first financing contract for the program was signed in August 2010. Annual financial contributions have been pledged to the sponsor, the Aga Khan Foundation Pakistan, including the commitment for 2013 and 2014, totaling EUR 9.4 million. The original total commitment has thus been reached and the program is due to expire in mid-2014. The contracts for the financial contributions for 2013 (EUR 1.0 million) and 2014 (EUR 695,000) were signed in May 2013. The 14 projects to build new water and sewage systems that began in 2012 as Phase III have now been completed and handed over to the population. Work has also been completed on a number of sewage systems. Overall, well over 100 village water supply systems and sewage systems have been built or fundamentally repaired as part of the project. The construction measures, which involve a high level of personal contribution from the population, are accompanied by extensive hygiene and health campaigns for all population groups and training measures for the maintenance of the simple, mostly gravitational water systems in mountain villages in the Himalayas of Pakistan.
