The aim of the transition project is to reduce water-induced diseases for the poor and internally displaced people in Juba, especially children, and to reduce the risks of gender-based violence. The recipient and project sponsor of the measure is the United Nations International Children's Fund (UNICEF). The project consists of four components: water supply, sanitation and hygiene, further training and capacity development, and safe spaces for women and girls. It is a transitional aid measure in the fragile context of the renewed outbreak of violence in South Sudan. Nevertheless, structural effects are being pursued. Therefore, public institutions, private companies and user groups of the population in the project area are involved in the implementation and operation of the project. The FC funding contribution amounts to EUR 10.2 million after the increase.
