Description
Description | This project will provide residents of the Jon Ra subdivision in Pelly Crossing with piped water services. The project includes the installation of new water mains, providing piped water services to existing housing and locate stubs for future lots in this community. Offsite improvements include road construction and repairs related to water servicing, and upgrades to the Taraw Water Treatment Plant. Approximate outputs include 7.82 km of new recirculating water main, expanding water services to existing properties and pre-identified future lots, road construction and repair including servicing to a new cul-de-sac, and upgrades to the Taraw Water Treatment Plant. The plant upgrades include well improvements, treatment equipment, added storage and improved distribution capacity. The community of Pelly Crossing is partially serviced by piped water, with the remainder of the community on trucked water service or wells. During cold spells in the winter months, residents are left without water due to freezing pipes and regular maintenance. Inclusion of piped water to the community will minimize service interruption, allow for better water quality monitoring and reduce the long term operation and maintenance costs. The goal is to maintain zero long-term drinking water advisories in the community. |
