The project envisages investments in reducing water loss in the city of Trujillo. As Peru's third-largest city, Trujillo is located in the desert coastal region and is faced with water shortages. The planned measures primarily involve improving the distribution network, including the procurement of equipment and materials, as well as consulting services. The project contributes to the goal of the development cooperation program Sustainable Urban Development in Times of Climate Change, Peru, by sustainably improving the adaptability of water supply companies (WVU) and thus the supply situation of the population living in the program regions. The measure is designed as an individual project and the local sponsor is the water supply company (WVU) of Trujillo (SEDALIB). The target group of the project is the population living in Trujillo who are connected to the central water supply system. The total financing requirement for the implementation of the programme is estimated at EUR 26.3 million, of which the German side will provide EUR 10.0 million (a grant commitment from 2016), the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO EUR 6.5 million and the Peruvian side EUR 9.8 million.
