Water loss reduction program

The Water Loss Reduction project provides for investments in water loss reduction in Peruvian provincial towns as part of the BMZ Adaptation Facility. The planned measures primarily include operational improvements to the distribution network, including the procurement of equipment and materials, as well as consulting services. The measure is designed as an FC program and is being implemented in consultation with partners in the provincial towns of Tacna and Chimbote. The individual program components are run by the water supply companies (WSU) in the provincial towns participating in the program (EPS TACNA, EPS SEDACHIMBOTE). The aim of the program is to help ensure that the population living in the program region is supplied with drinking water, taking into account the water stress that is exacerbated by climate change. The measure contributes to the development cooperation program objective by sustainably improving the adaptability of the WSU and thus the supply situation of the population living in the program regions. The target group of the project is the population living in Tacna, Chimbote and Nuevo Chimbote who are connected to the central water supply system. The total financing requirement for the implementation of the FC programme is estimated at around EUR 12.6 million, of which the German side will contribute EUR 10 million and the Peruvian side EUR 2.6 million.
