The aim of the project is to supply the population in the project areas with high-quality drinking water in a cost-effective manner and to improve wastewater disposal and the water balance situation. In particular, water availability will be increased through measures to reduce water loss, improve regional distribution and replace fresh water by reusing treated wastewater in irrigated agriculture. The quality of drinking water will be improved through the rehabilitation of the pipe network and advisory services. Overall, the measures will lead to increased efficiency and a reduction in the overuse of scarce water resources. In addition, wastewater disposal measures will reduce environmental and health risks.
