Description
Description | The FC project (regional funds) envisages the optimization and rehabilitation of drinking water systems in the coastal towns of Jacó, Quepos-Manuel Antonio, Guácimo and Puerto Limón in Costa Rica, which will be supplemented by wastewater disposal measures in the Moín district of Puerto Limón. The measures are to be financed through the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica - BCIE). The aim of the FC measure (module objective) is to contribute to ecologically sustainable and economically efficient management of water resources, to protecting the environment and to improving sanitation in the program cities. The sponsor of the FC measure at the regional level is BCIE; the program sponsor at the national level is the Costa Rican water supplier AyA (Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados). The local program sponsor AyA and parts of the target population (awareness campaign on connection to the sewage network) are also to be supported through an accompanying measure (BMZ No. 2011.7020.8). We provisionally estimate the investment costs (including consulting services in detailed planning and construction monitoring) of the measure to total around EUR 110 million (including consulting services, unforeseen costs, costs for the project implementation unit and reserves for price increases, without taking into account the cost increases for the measures on Federal Highway 32). To finance the investment costs, an interest-subsidized loan of USD 58.97 million (USD equivalent of EUR 50 million) (BMZ No. 2011.6640.4) and a budget loan of EUR 25.7 million (BMZ No. 2016.6538.9) will be provided from FC. |
